Um…FINALLY!!!
“Backstabber,” one of the many demos that surfaced long its appearance on Animal, was always a favorite of mine from the Kween of Dumpster-Pop’s 2009 major label debut.
According to popular Ke$ha lore, a video for the song was shot many moons ago. And although photos some on-set photos surfaced in May, nothing ever ended up happening for the song…until now, of course.
That’s right! The video has finally leaked.
So what’s the plot? Well, some blonde bimbo decides to fuck with K-e-dollar sign-HA and swipe her sick set of wheels while she’s busying making her nightly payphone call to a local crack dealer (assumed, though unconfirmed). RU-UDE!
But don’t worry–K$ ain’t having NONE O’ DAT, so she comes back swingin’ after a few sweet street moves with her bad ass crew. Payback’s a bitch…that never showers.
As it turns out, the video for “Backstabber” is actually one of K$’s most representative videos to date: It’s got truckloads of glitter, leather, pervs, mussy hangover hair, growdy make-out sessions, dueling drag queens…and even some wig snatching! It’s kind of everything we’ve come to love and admire about the Almighty Trashcan With Feet.
In all seriousness though, I’m so jazzed that this video came to see the light of day! Between all the sweet choreography and fierce styling (plus the fact that “Backstabber” is such a fucking good pop song), it would’ve been a major shame if everyone’s hard work was stuck bottled up in some film canister until the end of time.
PARTY ON, K$!
Animal was released in January of 2009. (iTunes)
Jennifer Lopez may not be giving Mademoiselle Gaga a run for her money vocally anytime in the next…err, forever, but she’s just thrown down the bejeweled gauntlet when it comes to product placement in her latest video.
Like Gagalita’s mini-epic-that-goes-on-a-bit “Telephone,” Jenny’s newest clip for “Papi” operates on a whole new level of brand-happy buffoonery, featuring like eleventy billion product placements, including Blackberry, PlentyOfFish, the Fiat and Crown Royal Whisky as though the mamacita’s gone twirling through the warehouse floor of a high-end Costco.
But you know what? We all know sister honey child enjoys stacking the paper on the daily (okurr, American Idol?), and I am not about to shade her hustle: Beyond the video’s steep price tag, “Papi” is a story. YES, A STORY: A ROM-COM! Well, sort of. Kind of like an action-adventure Rom-Com from Hell which finds La Lopez being chased down by dozens and dozens of lusty lovers after she, well…um, after she eats a cookie. A MAGICAL COOKIE!
Okay. You know, I’ll admit it: It was a teensy bit difficult for me to suspend my disbelief for this one. As someone who spends a good-to-great amount (and/or all) of their leisure time eating cookies and crying alone in their room while watching Britney: For The Record, I find it interesting that not even one man has jumped through a glass window to get a piece of me. Surely I’m just not eating the right kind of cookies? Yeah. That must be it.
OH, right: And there’s a pretty amazing dance scene in a parking lot. It’s both silly and fierce (sillierce), which makes it thoroughly hot and impressive…especially given the whole ‘She’s 42, y’all!’ thing. She can still pull off tight choreography!
ALSO: SHE IS SO FUCKING GORGEOUS AND FLAWLESS. I mean…I know I say flawless often, but like…THIS WOMAN IS FREE OF ALL FLAW.
Sure, “Papi” may not be the fierce lasers ‘n’ smoke club sequel to “Waiting For Tonight” that one might have expected from its pulsating beat, but it’s certainly fun and thoroughly amusing–and I’m always here for a pop princess who knows how to poke a little fun at themselves. MuuMuse APPROVED!
The “Papi” remixes were released on September 13. (iTunes)
And now for the most exciting news in the history of ever: Madame Rihanna is about to kick off her new album campaign with a brand new single: “We Found Love.”
According to AllAccess, “We Found Love” is due to impact mainstream Top 40 radio on October 11. And, according to a buttload of online rumors, she’s premiering the single–produced by Calvin Harris (Kylie Minogue, Sophie Ellis-Bextor)–live this Friday during Brazil’s Rock In Rio concert on September 23.
Princess RiRi even revealed a bit of the lyrics a few days ago on Twitter, which was just retweeted by Calvin Harris:
Sometimes it feels like we find love in the most hopeless place.
MY BODY IS READY.

In the world of modern girl group members, there are few (if any) as vocally gifted as the drop dead gorgeous chanteuse of the UK’s Girls Aloud: Mizz Nadine Coyle.
After interviewing the flawless lead of a group that dominated the UK charts from 2002 to 2009 with over 20 Top 10 singles and millions of records sold, I knew I had to invite her to headline Friday night’s #GUMBOPOP. And wouldn’t you know it? She accepted!
Stepping out onto the stage in the early hours of Saturday morning rocking a pair of killer stilettos, a glammed-up red army jacket (looking a bit like a nod to Aloud member Cheryl Cole‘s “Fight For This Love”!) a sparkling black skirt and a fresh pair of aviator shades, Queen Nadine was looking nothing less than flaw free on the stage at the Canal Room in NYC.
The Irish chanteuse delivered four killer cuts from her solo career to a crowd of screaming Nadine stans and Aloudaholics, including a thumping club remix of “Runnin’,” “Sweetest High” and her debut solo single, “Insatiable.”
But most exciting of all? The world premiere of “Don Julio” (working title, also referred to as “Save Me.”)
Like a soulful ’90′s R&B jam smoothed over with a–dare I say it!–modern, glossy Girls Aloud production, along with a killer breakdown of a bridge (which was bolstered by flashing strobes for full effect onstage!), “Don Julio” might be one of Coyle’s best solo offerings to date. It’s a major tune!
And just like that, Queen Nadine reigned supreme in New York City. Oh, and I sort of single-handedly prevented the full reunion of Girls Aloud. Oops!

Many thanks to Canal Room, 42Below Vodka, Gild Hall Hotel, The Six Pack, Platinum Salon at Hotel on Rivington, Limo Nerd, Nicholas Ruiz and Ben and Casey of GUMBO NYC for making this night possible!
“Sweetest High” was released on June 22. (iTunes)
It wouldn’t be a proper MuuMuse Approved event if a few whips and chains weren’t thrown into the mix!
Taking the stage just after midnight, the deliciously wicked gypsy princess Neon Hitch burst onto the stage of the Canal Room to delight the crowd at #GUMBOPOP early Saturday morning. Never one to shy away from a good headdress, the svelte songstress came to the stage decked out in a gorgeously ornate black-feathered headdress thingamabob, a skin-tight black body suit, and of course, loads of body glitter and war paint.
With a troupe of energetic drum players, Hitch put on a fantastically frenzied whirlwind performance of “Silly Girl,” “Fuck You Better,” and her current single, “Bad Dog,” working every inch of the stage during her tribal-gone-futuristic brand of deliciously pop shenanigans.
And just like her performance at Splash months ago, Hitch was hungry for an animal to play with on stage. In seconds, Hitch had found her bitch: A ready and willing volunteer who was promptly tethered and tossed to the floor for some good ol’ fun during Hitch’s performance of her delicious new single. WOOF!
For more photos from the night, check out Guest of a Guest.
Many thanks to Canal Room, 42Below Vodka, Gild Hall Hotel, The Six Pack, Platinum Salon at Hotel on Rivington, Limo Nerd, Nicholas Ruiz and Ben and Casey of GUMBO NYC for making this night possible!

It’s Britishney, bitch…NOW PALMS TO THE SKY!
Either Brit Brit‘s got a taste for the life of larceny after 2007′s Lighter-gate, or she’s just begun shooting the video for her upcoming fourth Femme Fatale single, “Criminal”!
The above photos have just surfaced from over in Londontown where the Holy Spearit is currently engaging in a whirlwind promotional tour on dozens of TV programs and radio stations to promote the Femme Fatale Tour overseas, including a pre-tour launch party on Friday night.
Looking like the ravishing Femme Fatale from her tour, Britishney and her real-life beau Jason Trawick were seen running around a store while brandishing a big fat bass pistol. I don’t know, seems like this girl’s up to no good…just be careful where you point that thing, Brit Brit!
AND THIS TYPE OF LOVE ISN’T RATIONAL…
If you’re in town tonight, head down to the Canal Room in Manhattan (W. Broadway x Canal St.) for GUMBO NYC x MuuMuse Presents: #GUMBOPOP, featuring performances by Chris Salvatore, Neon Hitch and Nadine of Girls Aloud!
Come meet me and get your dance on, indulge in the open bar and enjoy
the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G performances of the evening!
It’s gonna be fun, fun, fun!
NAAAAAVY! REPORT TO YOUR BATTLE STATIONS!
No, this ain’t no drill: Princess Robyn Rihanna Fenty is coming back hard with a brand new album this Fall!
Earlier this evening, the one and only whip and chain enthusiast, occasional sufferer of memory loss, and mattress aficionado responded to an inquiring fan on Twitter who decided to ask when Ri’s new album would be Ri-leased. And so she responded: “THIS FALL!!!!!”
YASSSSS!
The tweet also confirms that early plans for a LOUD Ri-release have been scrapped in favor of a whole new record. (Oh, you just knew that was coming…new hair, new era!)
With this upcoming record, Rihanna will have released a new album every single year since 2005 (excluding 2008, unless you count her re-release Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded, which spawned the Ri-ridiculously successful singles “Disturbia” and “Take A Bow.”) That’s right: Six studio albums in seven years…and the bitch is still just 23 years old.
And while everyone’s mostly raising their glasses up and drinking to that, I’ve been seeing a few little shady ladies and ladyboys sipping on some haterade and criticizing the RiRi reign for its continued inability to let up. To that, I can only say…
OH, U MAD?
STAY MAD.
