Kate Havnevik Delivers “Mouth 2 Mouth” (Single Review)
Of all the Norwegian electronica chanteuses in the world, Kate Havnevik is probably my favorite. I first discovered Havnevik back in 2006 with her debut record Melankton, a dreamy collection of electronica-infused tunes produced by ...

We here at MuuMuse like to party. We like, we like to party!*
*That is, in controlled, non-spontaneous environments with ample cell phone reception, a can of mace strapped to my thigh, and at least three or more close friends in tow with enough body mass to successfully drag my body away to a safe location if I were to be roofied at some point during the night.
As a result, club music is sort of in our blood.
Next week, the popular UK club music series, Clubland, is unveiling its seventeenth edition.
The tracklisting is essentially amazing (there’s Kelis, Gaga, and Agnes, for starters) but don’t take my word for it–click here to see the full list of songs (and while you’re at it, pre-order the album!)
MuuMuse is proud to be giving away THREE COPIES of the new Clubland 17 compilation.
If you’d like to win, send me an e-mail with the subject line “CLUBLAND,” or tweet me with the following phrase: “I want to go to CLUBLAND with @muumuse!”
Three winners will be selected and notified on Monday, June 28.
Good luck!
Word on the street is that the Klas Ã…hlund-produced “Hang With Me” is set to be a single in its electronic form on Robyn‘s upcoming EP, Body Talk Pt. 2, which is set to be released at the beginning of August. But did you know that Robyn wasn’t the first artist to record the song?
In fact, it was the producer’s ex-wife, Paola Bruna. Thanks to Muuser José M., MuuMuse has the full story behind the song:
Klas always wanted to be a producer- and found in Robyn the perfect girl to do some good pop music. His project with ex-wife Paola Bruna didn’t go well on 2003. Actually, Hang With Me -also included in Body Talk pt 1 with different arrangement- is a song included on Paola’s 2003 album “Stockcity Girl.”
You can click above to hear the song streaming in its original 2003 form, as sung by Paola Bruna. It’s an absolutely stunning rendition–very sad, dying embers of summer-type feel. I adore it.
The more you know!
Something special this way comes.
Röyksopp have just posted a small video teaser to promote the release of Senior, the long-awaited instrumental companion piece to their essential 2009 release, Junior.
From the YouTube description:
The two albums (‘Junior’ and ‘Senior’) have a kinship, in that they represent Röyksopp’s two very different artistic expressions. ‘Junior’ — with emphasis on vocals, accessible melodies and harmonies, has the energy, the inquisitive temper and confident “hey-ho, let’s go!”-attitude of youth, whereas ‘Senior’ is the introverted, dwelling and sometimes graceful counterpart — brimful with dark secrets and distorted memories, insisting “I’m old, I’ve got experience…”. Senior’ is furthermore an album about age, horses and being subdued — with devils breathing down your neck.
Senior will be released on September 13.
Yay! I can’t wait.
You know that heart-swelling-like-a-balloon-I-am-swooning-so-hard kind of uncontrollable glee you feel when you see a baby do something hilarious and adorable (like this, for instance)?
That’s how I feel whenever I see Kylie Minogue.
Now through July 11, Camp Kylie will be taking questions on the singer’s official YouTube page. Of which, ten will be selected and answered by the pop princess herself based on fan votes.
But don’t let me explain it all for you–watch the video above!
SHE MAKES ME SO HAPPY.
And now, a behind-the-scenes clip from the set of the video shoot for Marina and the Diamonds‘ brilliantly jittery, fame-weary new single “Oh No!”–one of the best tracks off of the singer’s debut album, The Family Jewels.
As you can see, there are bright colors (colours), big dancing routines, and heaps of pomp and circumstance. Look at all the big hair and flashy make-up! Someone’s looking quite glamorous lately, non?
The full Kinga Burza-directed video for “Oh No!” will debut on June 29, with the single’s release to follow on August 2.
To keep my Muusers at bay (monsters, all of you!), have a taste of this free official Grum remix. It’s disco-fied, and therefore automatically good.
DL: Marina and the Diamonds – Oh No! (Grum Remix)
Click here to pre-order the single from Marina’s website in vinyl, CD, and CD/vinyl/baseball tee combo form. Amazing.
EDIT: Just got word back–apparently there was a PR mix-up: “In the US, the plan is to stay with ‘Dancing On My Own’ for a while.” Whether that means it will be released internationally, I don’t know. Methinks this may not actually turn out to be a single, however.
According to her label, “Hang With Me” is the latest “forthcoming single” to come from Robyn‘s Body Talk Pt. 1.
While I can’t say that it’s an obvious choice for next single (then again, she’s already released almost every song off of the EP as a digital single already!), I’ve no doubt that the Swedish songstress has the ability to carry out this beautiful ballad as well as she did with “Be Mine.” (The first time around, anyway.)
While we wait to find out, click here to see Robyn’s performance of the song, as well as performances of “Dancing on My Own” and “With Every Heartbeat,” from Capital FM’s Rimmel Room sessions. Gorgeous, gorgeous vocals. That’s called talent!
As for the acoustic version of “Dancing on My Own”? Well…you’ll cry. I guarantee it.
In the second installment of what may very well become an recurring column here at MuuMuse, MamaMuuse sounds off about Sia.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for the below comments and/or criticisms. To dispute a claim, you’ll simply have to take it up with my mother. I can, however, confirm the claim that I am well versed in Play-Doh.
I said it before and I will say it again. Sia’s cover art is beyond shit. I know you said it’s supposed to be ironic, whatever the hell that means. (That’s what I get for giving you a fancy pants education).
And if they wanted to go that route they really should have contacted you. Now, you were a master of pipe cleaners, Play-Doh, crayons and labels. And if anyone wants to dispute it I still have your first grade artwork on display to prove it!
Thank you for your time.
And now, the video for one of the MuuMuse Approved summer anthems of 2010, Kelly Rowland‘s “Commander.”
First, let me just shake this out right quick:
FIERCE. MAMA.
(Stereotypes. I perpetuatez em.)
But really: The video for “Commander” contains lots of skintight clothing and several bucket-loads of 22nd century voguing, like Paris is Burning being screened on Saturn. It’s exactly the right vibe for the song.
(There is also some obligatory David Guetta-being-raucous-and-irritating footage, but mercifully not that much.)
The single is projected to hit #2 on the Billboard Dance Club Play Songs this week, and according to those in the know, there’s a good shot it may snag the number one position.
I’m rooting for you so hard, Kelandria Rowland!
